It looks like we may have to wait a while longer…
Showtime vice-president Stephen Espinoza has shot down reports that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have reportedly agreed to the make the fight the boxing world has been waiting for happen.
The fight would almost certainly be the richest in the history of the sport, with the Sunday Telegraph reporting that the pair has agreed the principles of a deal which could net in excess of $250million (€220million) for a May megafight in Las Vegas.
After years of often bitter and publicly acrimonious negotiations, the reports suggest the pair have finally found common ground on the issues of revenue splits, gloves and drug-testing, with Mayweather set to earn 60 per cent of the purse and Pacquiao 40 per cent.
But Espinoza took to Twitter to refute the claims, insisting that the real contract was still being worked on and that the sides had not come to an agreement.
Not sure what anyone is signing since no agreement has been finalized yet. #MayweatherPacquiao #boxing

An imaginary contract, maybe. Real one not finished yet. "@alstar3636: Sporting News & Telegraph reporting Pac signed a contract for 250M"

Fans have been waiting more than five years for Mayweather-Pacquiao and it looks like we’ll have to hang a little while longer to hear if it will finally happen.
