Nick Blackwell has woken from his coma.
The boxer was placed into the induced coma after suffering bleeding to his brain during his British middleweight title bout against Chris Eubank Jr. on March 26th.
The fight between the pair was eventually stopped in the 10th round, with Blackwell suffering from severe swelling to his eye, but many felt it should have been stopped sooner. The 25 year old subsequently collapsed and had to be stretchered from the ring.
Blackwell was woke from his coma on Monday afternoon, and is reportedly well enough to speak to family and friends, who remained at his bedside throughout.

Peter Hamlyn, a leading neurosurgeon, said last week that Blackwell is unlikely to ever fight again.
However, few will dispute that the 25 year old’s health is of paramount concern. It’s great to see he has taken the first steps towards recovery.
