English boxer apologises after quite appalling abuse of Paddy Barnes’ wife

He since deleted the tweet

Ohara Davies has seen the error of his ways but an awful lot of damage was already done.

Davies is known as much for his social media barbs than his boxing prowess. The Londoner was 15-0 up until recently but lost his perfect record against Scotland’s Josh Taylor.

Davies has, in the past, clashed with Carl Frampton and Paddy Barnes, and has come off second best.

Davies has learned very little from those exchanges, it seems, and took his trash-tweeting way, way over the line this weekend.

The 25-year-old could not resist a pop at Barnes and his wife, Mari, after the two time Olympic bronze medallist shared a picture with his followers.

CAUTION: The tweet [below] is extremely crass and insensitive.

It has since been deleted but one Twitter user got a screengrab:

Davies has obviously had some time to dwell on the matter as he has issued a full and frank apology.

‘Apologies to Paddy Barnes’ wife for the tweet sent yesterday. It was a low blow and came from a place of immaturity. She had nothing to do with mine and his beef over social media’

Barnes has not responded to the apology but Frampton could not resist…
