Conlan was fighting at the Suncorp Stadium and was able to convincingly finish off the Australian Owen in front of a home crowd.

The Belfast man has finished on three of his professional fights in the third round and all have come through stoppages.

He was fighting on the undercard to Manny Pacquiao versus Jeff Horn, a fight that has caused massive controversy,

The popular Filipino was defeated by Australian, Horn, by unanimous decision with the scorecards reading 117-111, 115-113, 115-113.

The defeat is now the seventh of Pacquiao’s career with the fighter falling to a 59-7-2 record with four of his last nine fights ending in defeat.

His opponent, Horn, is now 17-0-1 following last night’s victory, which is being touted as one of boxing’s greatest upsets and is now the new WBO welterweight champion.
