There’s a lot more gold in Ireland of late.
Conor McGregor became the first Irishman to win UFC gold (albeit interim) in July and this week Michael Conlan boxed his way to the first ever world gold for an Irish male.
Conlan’s stunning win prompted the Belfast boxer to compare himself to The Notorious and it’s hard to see anything but success in his future with the form he’s currently exhibiting.
It’s not often that McGregor is happy to acknowledge athletes being on his level but he was clearly so impressed by Conlan that he was happy to give a ringing endorsement to the 23-year-old.

Great to see two Irishmen at the top of their game showing off the mutual respect they have for one another.
