‘Medically unfit’ Tyson Fury’s rematch with Wladimir Klitschko postponed

The fight had been scheduled for October 29

Tyson Fury has postponed his eagerly-anticipated rematch with Wladimir Klitschko for a second time, with a statement from the British world heavyweight champion’s promoters claiming that he is ‘medically unfit’.

The statement from Hennessey Sports didn’t disclose the exact nature of the problem, but indicated that the condition ‘is too severe to allow him to participate.’

This is the second time that the rematch has been postponed. Originally scheduled for July, Fury had delayed the fight just weeks before the meeting at the Manchester Arena following an injury to his ankle.

The rearranged fight had been scheduled for October 29, but due to the latest developments, it’s unknown when the fight will now take place.

Tyson Fury & Wladimir Klitschko Head to Head Press Conference

We and Tyson wish to express our sincerest apologies to all those concerned with the event and all the boxing fans who had been looking forward to the rematch,’ the statement reads.  ‘Tyson is understandably devastated by the development.’

‘We will be making a further statement in due course. Until then, we ask that Tyson and his family be given the privacy and the space he needs to recover during this difficult time.’

Fury defeated Klitschko on points in the original bout between the pair in November of last year.
