Boxing experts will tell you that Conor McGregor doesn’t have a hope in hell of beating Floyd Mayweather.
Your regular punter will tell you that the McGregor has a puncher’s chance.
All it takes is one good left hook and that’s it.
That’s the logic anyway and a lot of people are going by it.
According to David Purdum of ESPN, the vast majority are favouring McGregor rather than the undefeated Floyd Mayweather.
Purdum claims that 90% of bets placed in Las Vegas have been put on the Irishman to come out on top of the eagerly anticipated bout.
In fact, Caesars Palace, one of the most well-known hotels and casinos in Sin City, said that of the first 144 bets that they received, 140 of them backed the 28-year-old.
Even though an overwhelming amount of punters are throwing their money on the lightweight UFC Champion, the stacks of money read in Mayweather’s favour.
The big spenders are betting on the 40-year-old with one bookmaker saying that they have received stakes as high as $50,000 backing the American.
In total, 79% of all money bet on the fight is on a Mayweather win.
The boxing match will likely smash pay-per-view records and interest in it vastly outweighs any other headline Las Vegas bouts, with more money placed on McGregor vs. Mayweather in two days compared to an entire two months of betting on Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward.
The fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on 26 August.
