“I’ll answer it. Not in front of Katie Taylor.” – Eddie Hearn refuses to discuss Conor McGregor

Eddie Hearn scolded a journalist for asking a question about Conor McGregor in Katie Taylor’s post-fight press-conference.

The Bray boxer defeated Chantelle Cameron by a majority decision on Saturday night to become the undisputed champion across two weight divisions.

Having lost to Cameron back in May, Taylor turned the tables with a 95-95, 98-92, 96-94 victory over her English opponent after ten gruelling rounds.

After the fight, speaking alongside Katie Taylor, Matchroom boss Hearn refused to discuss Conor McGregor with Irish independent journalist Sean McGoldrick.

McGregor’s company Forged Stout was involved in the fight as a sponsor but in the wake of some of his controversial comments on social media this week, Hearn refused to discuss the topic. McGregor did not attend the fight this time around.

“You had to do it didn’t you,” said Hearn.

“I have to tell you this.

“I’m so bored of talking about it.

“All you ever do is look for a negative. Conor McGregor is Conor McGregor. I don’t represent him. I don’t talk about his comments.

“He has a brand that has backed the sport of boxing and it has nothing to do with Katie Taylor, the show, the company.”

“His opinions are his opinions. Tonight, we celebrate one of your greatest ever athletes. No more questions about Conor McGregor.”

McGoldrick repsonded by saying, as a journalist, he had to ask the question, and Hearn told him that he would answer it afterwards, as long as it wasn’t in the presence of Taylor.

“I’m not being negative. But I have to ask the question.

“Then you can ask me after the press-conference, I’ll answer it. Not in front of Katie Taylor. This is her night and congratulations to one of the greatest athletes I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.”
