Jake Paul beat former MMA fighter Ben Askren in his previous match
Jake Paul is now looking at his fourth professional fight as he will face former UFC champion Tyron Woodley (19-7-1) in his first fight for pay-per-view broadcasters, Showtime Boxing. Another week, another YouTuber boxing match.
The fight has been in the ether for a while and the done deal was first mooted by MMA Island on Monday night. It has now been officially confirmed by both parties.
“Easiest fight of my career and biggest purse of my career all in one night,” Woodley has declared.
“Basically, they brought me in to take out the trash. Can’t wait to shut this b**ch up. This is getting done for the culture, the whole MMA and boxing community, to rid this guy of combat sports.”
Paul announced the fight by proclaiming Woodley ‘is getting knocked out by a Disney actor’.
Dear, @TWooodley thanks for being the second MMA fighter on my hit list.

While the debate around whether influencers/celebrity boxers add something to the sports or detract from its integrity, the fact remains that Paul is unbeaten in his first three fights.
That being said, Ben Askren was his first real test against a trained fighter and as well as being retired from MMA, admitted that he barely trained as he was so confident of the win.
Woodley, however – an actual UFC champion, winning the UFC Welterweight Championship in 2016 – is sure to be a different level of challenge, though he has lost his previous four fights. He has eight KO wins on his record, including devastating stoppages of UFC legends Josh Koschek and Robbie Lawler.
The pair are pencilled in for an August 28 bout. Jake’s older brother Logan Paul set to for his high profile exhibition against Floyd Mayweather on Sunday, June 6 – one Carl Froch actually thinks the underdog has a chance in. Truly strange times.
Logan and Mayweather had teased a fight for some time and after the official announcement, tensions flared between Jake and Floyd at the pre-fight presser. The younger Paul brother had just won his fight against Askren and was clearly feeling himself, goading the undefeated veteran boxer and running off with his hat. Clearly taking the sport seriously, eh?

He had a similar to-do with Daniel Cormier last month as well. Jake certainly hasn’t shied away from whipping up potential opponents, with the likes of Tommy Fury and even names such as Michael Bisping and Conor McGregor being touted around.
We might still be having to wait for AJ vs Tyson but if you just like fighting and don’t mind watching yet another YouTuber boxing match, you can look forward to Paul vs Woodley in just a matter of days.
