Carl Frampton will defend his IBF world super bantamweight title against Chris Avalos at Belfast’s Oddysey Arena on February 28.
The champion met the mandatory challenger at a Belfast press conference today where the date for their bout was confirmed.
Frampton sealed the title with a unanimous decision victory over Spain’s Kiko Martinez in September.
Frampton’s first defence was supposed to take place within 90 days of his victory but the bout had to be delayed after Frampton requested an extension after injuring his hand against Martinez.
“The Jackal” is currently 19-0 in his professional career, with 13 knockouts to his name.
