With less than two weeks to go until the most anticipated bout of our generation, there wasn’t a lick of ink on the contracts which was beginning to make fight fans uneasy.
But we can all finally relax after Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has confirmed that both camps have agreed on the deal to make the May 2 meeting between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao official.
A cloud of doubt surrounded the fight after Top Rank, Mayweather Promotions and the MGM Grand could not agree on a number of last-minute issues such as ticket allocation and hotel rooms which had stalled the contract negotiations.
“We resolved all of the issues and now we’re waiting for the paperwork,” Arum said. “I said on the call that if what we agreed upon is in the paperwork we receive, we will sign it and the tickets will be released.”
However, even if you have a pocket deep enough to afford tickets to the most talked about fight in recent history, you’ll be doing well to find a ticket, with ESPN’s Dan Rafael confirming that just 500 of the 16,000 tickets will be sold to the general public, the cheapest of which is a whopping $1,500.
The rest of the tickets will be dished out to Mayweather Promotions, Top Rank, and the MGM Grand. It’ll be like the Garth Brooks concerts all over again.
