Come on, Manny.
Floyd Mayweather might well be the boxing equivalent of Jose Mourinho parking the bus or that bleedin’ blanket defence in Gaelic Football but, just like both, he is mightily effective.
His elusive style isn’t for everyone. His counter punching isn’t for the bandwagon jumpers and his personality, well, that’s up for taste as well.
But there’s no arguing that he controlled the ‘fight of the century’ against Manny Pacquiao as he ran out the winner with a unanimous points decision for his 48th straight professional win.
The Filipino though, believes that he won the fight. Well, that’s what he says anyway.
Despite clearly being behind heading into the last two rounds, PacMan surprised us all by not coming out all guns blazing after Mayweather when he obviously needed a knockout.
Pacquiao said he didn’t chase in those later rounds because he thought he was ahead.
“I thought I won the fight,” he said.
“He was moving around. It’s not easy to throw so many punches if he’s moving around. If he stays, I can throw more.
“I can handle his power. He’s not strong like [Antonio] Margarito or other opponents.
“The size doesn’t matter. I’ve been fighting bigger than him and it’s not a problem. I thought I won the fight.”
