Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan will try and move one step closer to a world title when he faces Canadian middleweight David Lemieux on Saturday evening.
O’Sullivan has won his last six fights since losing a WBA Middleweight title eliminator to Chris Eubank Jr. in 2015 and should the 34-year-old prevail over Lemieux this weekend he will be poised to fight the winner of the highly anticipated rematch between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.
Alvarez and Golovkin will headline the same card as O’Sullivan and Lemiuex with the Corkonian set to earn around $400,000 for the bout.
Should he prevail he will be in line for a seven-figure payday but tensions quickly simmered at the pre-fight weigh-in with Lemieux slapping Spike’s hand at the face off.

O’Sullivan was quite confident following a tetchy exchange with Lemieux and said that his opponent would be shitting himself.
“I could smell the fear and I could hear his heart beating,” said O’Sullivan. “He was anxious and is shitting himself right now.
“He’s a f—king asshole. That’s what gets under my skin. You’re getting knocked the f—k out!!!”
