The mind games never end, do they?
The Conor McGregor – Floyd Mayweather world tour was dominated by self promotion and boasts from both fighters, as they went a roundabout way in claiming there was no way either of them could be beaten.
Judging by a recent interview with Floyd Mayweather on ESPN, the American appears to have taken a step back, or maybe he’s just attempting to get inside the head of Conor McGregor, but, either way, he’s after making a host of surprising admissions about the fight.
Mayweather pointed to advantages in age and size and has claimed he’s not the man he once was.
“He’s a lot younger,” the 40-year-old told ESPN.
“When you look at myself and Conor McGregor on paper, he’s taller, has a longer reach, he’s a bigger man from top to bottom. He’s a lot younger, so youth is on his side.
In fairness, Mayweather’s admission holds water. Despite holding a 49-0 unbeaten record in the ring. The man hasn’t stepped into a ring since defeating Andre Berto in 2015. The man hasn’t knocked anyone out since 2011.
“And I’ve been off a couple of years. And I’m in my 40s. So, if you look at everything on paper, it leans toward Conor McGregor,” he continued.
“I didn’t say I couldn’t fight,” he explained. “I just said I’m not the same Floyd Mayweather I once was.”
All roads lead to August 26.
