Dubliner Luke Keeler earns shot at world title eliminator

Jack O'Toole

Dubliner Luke Keeler will fight Luis Arias in a World Boxing Organisation middleweight title eliminator in August.

Keeler will fight Arias before Michael Conlan’s homecoming fight against Diego Alberto Ruiz in Belfast with both fighters leading a card at the Féile an Phobail.

The Féile will see a stacked night of boxing at Falls Park on August 3rd with Conlan headlining the event while Keeler will take on Arias in his fight, and should he prevail, he’ll earn a shot at WBO middleweight world champion Demetrius Andrade.

Keeler has won six out of his seven fights since his 2016 loss to Tom Doran at the Liverpool Arena and also boasts two wins over Conrad Cummings to win and then defend his WBO European Middleweight title.

His opponent Arias (18-1-1) has an impressive record in his own right with a USBA middleweight title win and two successive defences.

The only loss of his career came at the hands of  former WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs.
