WBC Silver and WBO International heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte has slammed Anthony Joshua for what he perceives as a ridiculous offer for a potential fight between the two.
Whyte has won nine fights since his 2015 loss to Joshua and is campaigning for a rematch with the world heavyweight champion with both Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury likely to fight each other again after their world heavyweight clash last month in Los Angeles.
Whyte has said before that this is not the first time that Joshua has attempted to make a rematch with him but the Body Snatcher added that the latest offer made to him for the fight is simply unacceptable.
“There’s been the first offer, but it’s utterly ridiculous, it’s way less than what I made to fight Chisora,” Whyte told talkSPORT.
“It is a ridiculous offer, they’re not serious about the fight. It’s ridiculous, the offer comes with other options as well. It’s silly; I’m a pay per view fighter, I’ve built myself up. It’s not like I’m a journeyman, I worked my way up to No 1 with two governing bodies.
“He needs to take that into consideration. I bring more to the table than even Joseph Parker did, and he was a world champion.
“I don’t think he wants the fight, there are easier paydays out there for him and he knows I’ll bring problems to his Mum’s house.
“It is a childish offer, if you want to fight, you make a proper offer, you know what I bring to the table. Me, Tyson Fury and Wilder, you can’t sell out Wembley with anybody else. It looks like Tyson Fury will fight Deontay Wilder (again), so he needs to stop messing about.
“It’s an easy fight to make. I have the rankings, we have history, everybody knows it will be a good fight. Nobody will complain about the fight.”
Wilder and Fury are the other two fighters consistently linked with Joshua but former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has said that he believes that current heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua does not want to fight either man.
“Anthony Joshua can wait,” Lewis told CompuBox. “He doesn’t want any of those guys!”
“When he saw that fight, he was like ‘Wow, these guys can box’ and now they’re going to do it again – he’s at one place in his career and in boxing.
“Obviously he can make the decisions that he can make and his decision is not to fight any of them at this moment.”
