World champion Deontay Wilder has invited Sligo’s Rory Gallagher to Las Vegas for the big fight.

WBC heavyweight king Deontay Wilder was in Belfast on Saturday to sell his upcoming title defence against Tyson Fury. Although the details have yet to be confirmed, the bout has been made official. It is expected to go down in Las Vegas this November.

Six-year-old Rory Gallagher will be there to watch the boxing goliaths do battle because of Wilder. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ met the young Sligo native during his trip to Belfast. Wilder invited Rory to the big fight which, as you can see from the video embedded below, made the youngster’s day!

Boxing management company MTK Global have made Rory an honorary member. Rory has cerebral palsy and when he was eight months old, his parents were told that he would never walk or talk. Last December the family received some bad news while in Boston Children’s Hospital.

Rory is requiring double hip surgeries that will cost over €100,000. He is too weak at the moment for these surgeries and so he will require neurological rehabilitation and intensive physiotherapy in order to get ready for the surgeries next July. These procedures are also very costly.

If you would like to donate to help Rory, you can do so at the GoFundMe page RorysWishToWalk. At the time of writing, they are just over halfway to their goal of €120,000.
