Carl Frampton’s first title defence will be broadcast live on ITV

February 28 bout will be shown live to ITV viewers

Great news for fight fans.

Carl Frampton defends his IBF super bantamweight world title against Chris Avalos in Belfast on February 28 and it’s going to be shown live on ITV.

The announcement is a step forward for domestic boxing with Andy Lee’s December world title bout passing a lot of casual boxing fans by as it was shown exclusively on pay-per-view.

There will undoubtedly be more Irish eyes on Belfast’s Frampton when he takes to the ring next month as his bout is set to be broadcast on terrestrial television.

Sky subscribers in Ireland will definitely get the chance to see Frampton’s defence as they have access to ITV but it is as yet unknown whether or not UPC viewers will have the chance as UTV Ireland could not confirm whether they would be carrying the fight when contacted for comment.
