Carl Frampton will fight in August but it will not be on the upcoming Michael Conlan card.
Frampton had toyed with the idea of hanging up his gloves following his defeat to Josh Warrington last December but it became clear that he still had plenty of fight in him when he signed a deal with Bob Arum’s Top Rank promotion earlier this year.
‘The Jackal’ announced his intention to fight in early summer after his legal battle with former manager Barry McGuigan came to an end but the adjournment of that court case means that his return date has had to be postponed.
Frampton’s new promoter, Arum, was in Belfast this week to confirm Michael Conlan’s return to his home city and the Top Rank CEO also took the time to explain his plans for Frampton.
“Frampton is fighting in August in the US, and then he’ll fight for a championship in probably November, December,” Arum revealed.

“He was going to fight on August 3 but then that date went to Michael Conlan. I’m going to Belfast, where Conlan will fight. Later on in August, maybe the 10th or the 23rd, he’ll be fighting. He’ll be top of the bill.”
Arum also discussed recent acquisition, Ryan Burnett, who left Matchroom Boxing after his defeat to Nonito Donaire due to a freak injury last November.
“Ryan Burnett, Frank (Warren) mentioned, we were going to put him on in Belfast but now it’s going to be in the United States,” Arum added.
“He has (Zolani) Tete he’d like to put Burnett in with. I’d love to do that fight.
“We have absolutely no compunction to show fights in the afternoon in the United States, so that they can be in the evening in the UK.”
