Carl Frampton to make Las Vegas debut for Leo Santa Cruz rematch

The date and venue has been set for Carl Frampton’s highly-anticipated rematch against Leo Santa Cruz.

Frampton (23-0), who had previously held the IBF and WBA super-bantamweights titles, became a two-weight world champion when the Mexican (32-1-1) his first professional loss by securing a majority decision in New York on 30 July.

On that occasion, one judge saw the epic scrap as a draw while the other gave the nod to the Belfast pugilist.

Last week, ‘The Jackal’ revealed that his next bout would be an immediate rematch against Santa Cruz, with Belfast thought to be a potential location for the sequel bout. However, he took to Twitter to confirm that the fight is booked for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on January 28, 2017.

The bout will mark Frampton’s first defence as WBA featherweight champion.

In order to get everyone psyched up for the bout, Showtime dropped the following promo shortly after the fight announcement.
