“Like it or not…”
Carl Frampton has a different view to the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury than most ex boxers do.
The typical response to Fury’s match up with a famous YouTube star is that it’s making a mockery of the sport, and doesn’t deserve the recognition it’s getting.
Although Fury himself comes from high boxing pedigree, being the younger brother to WBC World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, he is still more known for his appearances in Love Island than his success in the ring.
Paul has won several fights against other YouTubers and retired MMA stars, such as Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren and Anderson Silva.
However, he is yet to actually come up against a genuine professional boxer with ambitions to succeed in the sport, so many people in the world of boxing, especially former fighters, won’t pay this bout any attention.
Frampton however, has shared a different view on the match-up and summed it up perfectly in one tweet.
“My wife who hates boxing wants to watch @jakepaul vs @tommytntfury.
“My daughter who never mentions boxing wants to watch this. Grannys in the street are asking me about it and as a former fighter I want to see it. Like it or not, this is big!”

The former two weight world champion is one of the most respected figures in the sport, and he can see the draw that this spectacle has.
Paul vs Fury takes place this Sunday on BT Sport Box Office.
