‘How is that a split decision?’
Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk defeated Brit Anthony Joshua last night during their Saudi Arabia-set rematch that ended in a split decision – and it was this moment that left boxing fans baffled.
With fans deeming that he putting up a better fight than the one he delivered during the pair’s first bout 11 months ago, Joshua, 32, was ultimately put through his paces by Usyk, 35.
While most viewers expected that the Ukrainian would no doubt be deemed the winner on all of the judges’ score cards, that unexpectedly wasn’t the case – with Joshua awarded 115-113 on the first card.
The moment set those following along on social media talking, many of whom couldn’t believe that they were witnessing a split decision.

The other judges handed it to Usyk, with one delivering 115-113 and another giving 116-112 in favour of the Ukrainian fighter. Meanwhile, those online took aim at the judge that went against the overall consensus.
Sack that judge who scored it for Joshua. Must have been wearing a blindfold. Frightening.

Ending the fight, Joshua left the ring and proceeded to deliver an impromptu and impassioned speech that many deemed out of character. While many suggested he may have been concussed, the Brit went on to clarify his actions during an emotional post-show press conference.
What’s more, during a brief backstage exchange, Joshua seemed to become enraged at a fan that suggested he “keep it professional.”
It was later suggested that Joshua may have misinterpreted the moment.
