Andy Lee has apologised to the people of Limerick after his world title bout was moved from Thomond Park.
The WBO middleweight champion was due to fight Billy Joe Saunders at the Munster venue on September 19, but the fight will now take place on October 10 in Manchester, as Lee’s training has been affected by a virus.
The 31 year spoke about the situation this morning for the first time since the fight was re-scheduled.
Lee tweeted his thanks to those involved with Limerick city council and Thomond Park, apologised to fight fans in the city and says he remains determined to defeat Saunders, despite the obvious disappointment on missing out on his ‘dream fight.’
To the people of Limerick and to those who had planned on going to the fight, I'm sorry, it was not my decision.

All the disappointment of the last week has only strengthened my resolve. Now, nothing will stop me from winning this fight.
