Amir Khan hits out at Floyd Mayweather after comeback speculation

Not likely

Amir Khan is in no mood to welcome Floyd Mayweather Jr back to boxing after claiming to have been “messed around” by the undefeated champ.

Mayweather claims to have turned down a huge sum to return to the sport in the past, though talk of a comeback from the veteran have gained steam of late.

Khan has been named as a potential opponent for the American, but the Bolton fighter has no plans to enter the ring with ‘Money’.

“He messed me around, so I’d probably treat him the same way – I don’t think I’d take that fight,” Khan is quoted as saying by the BBC.

Last year saw Khan – who is currently preparing to take on Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas – claim Mayweather was “scared” of him.

And he has provided another theory as to why the 39-year-old seemingly wants to cut short his retirement.

“Mayweather’s feeling that now, he’s feeling like no-one’s talking about him, that he’s old news, and maybe that’s why he’s trying to get everyone supporting him again by saying ‘I want to make a comeback’,” Khan added.

Amir Khan will face Canelo Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night (Sunday morning UK time), with the winner likely (but not certain) to face Gennady Golovkin later in the year.
