A top female UFC fighter was arrested over the weekend for the alleged assault of two men following a bar fight in the US.

Bantamweight contender Julianna Pena was taken into custody by police in Spokane, Washington in the early hours of Sunday morning and was later released on bail ahead of a court appearance next week.

MMAFighting.com reports that the incident occurred after Pena and training partner Josh Gow were caught up in a mass street brawl involving up to 20 people and that Gow suffered a bloody facial injury in the fight.

Pena attempted to enter a bar with Gow to help him recover but upon being refused entry, the No.5 ranked bantamweight in the UFC, who witnesses described as being ‘clearly drunk’, kicked both a bar employee and its owner in the groin.

Pena, 26, is a former winner of the The Ultimate Fighter and is riding a three-fight win streak in the UFC.
